In the years I've invested myself in dedication to the business of Internet Marketing, I've observed that though technologies and different fields of expertise appear and recede overtime like any other ever-changing business outlook, only timeless, universal principles remain.

The first and foremost characteristic of Internet Marketing is automation. Alex Mandossian once said that "Internet Marketing is meant to train us as lazy workers but high thinkers." We are constantly thinking of better ways to attain 100% automation, which is near impossible, for thinking itself is already hard work.

Despite this, Internet Marketing may not be simple, but it is definitely very systematic in nature, such that it is really an easy business to do due to the availability of metrics software for performance measurement. By knowing and understanding results-by-the-numbers, Internet marketers can tweak and re-launch sales and marketing campaigns for better returns. This is not something that brick-and-mortar businesses are capable of and ready to embrace as part of their daily business handling activities.

Coming back to principles, here are 10 things you can always bear in mind as you go about doing your business online. Even if you are attempting one niche after another (and that's what some self-employed do these days), following a certain entrepreneurial pattern based on principles can help you get into the thick of action easily and systematically.

1) Provide lots of quality content on your website. The litmus test is: Would you freely publish something that you would otherwise sell?

2) Be tight, comprehensive and cohesive about your site theme. For example, your site may be about dogs rather than dog collars, which is a smaller, more focused niche. Nonetheless, you can design and implement a clear structure with different sections covering dog training, dog hygiene, dog naming, dog psychology, doggy habits, etc. You can aim for a portal or library of information and it can still not be confusing.

3) Setup a blog. You heard this many time: "Search engines love blogs." Well, go and create one, link it up to your main site, publish snippets of information and send out RSS feeds. Search engines will find you fast!

4) Create a plan of using traffic exchanges, safelists, FFA lists etc. to draw traffic to your site. I, like many people, did not believe that you can funnel targeted traffic from these places, until I came across a few experts in this area.

5) Build a lead capture page offering a powerful freebie, an e-course or a reason visitors can't refuse...on condition they must subscribe to you.

6) Create free materials like viral e-books to give away. Write articles and e-courses and submit everywhere you can. Reuse your articles to suit every possible form of online and offline media. Just keep your eyes open. What goes around always comes around. You are bound to be famous on the Internet in 6 months if not a year. Or start an article/free e-book directory service yourself! You can attract more writers and material seekers with the most minimal of effort.

7) Get your visitors and subscribers involved with YOU. Give them a role, a stake or control over the content of your site, forum, chat room, online survey or newsletter etc. You can sustain their interest and effectively build up not only traffic volume but also the quality of customer relationships overtime. The noblest yet most challenging thing to do is finding ways to build up their own monetary value. That's what Jay Abraham, Bob Proctor and many other experts do.

8) Create an affiliate program for your products and services to encourage affiliates bring new referrals to you! It's a great way to get targeted newcomers to your site.

9) Create postcards with your e-zine information and business cards to hand out at events. Also print out articles and hand them around at events (which must be appropriate in context). Your signature at the articles' end leads them to your site. Show them you are the expert here!

10) One great way to multiply subscriber addresses in your list is invite fellow online marketers to swap e-zine ads with you. Many marketers know the benefit of this, and it's free and easy to implement. All it takes is mutual agreement on how often and how many times to publish each other's ads!

Yes, there is a lot of work involved, these 10 points are only general and the devil is in the details. But you see, even though I'm no SEO or link exchange techie, I am carrying out all 10 points in my daily work and with continuous measurement of my results my income has nowhere else to go but up as I optimize the monetary value of my effort. Ultimately I am doing what these 10 points say because they can sustain online longevity.

When you seriously put them into practice, turning your actions into regular habits is only a matter of time. In one year, your situation will be much better than where you are today, and all you need to do is create a system of productive action based on these 10 points. This is my encouragement to you.

The rage to milk money from Adsense continues into 2010. While there are many different ways to do this, it's no secret Google is keeping a watchful eye on spam sites which automatically generate pages consistently on a daily basis.

Every now and then, Adsense 'experts' would introduce a 'fresh' new way of generating pages which Google "has not caught on yet", be it article, directory or backlink generators.

While these software are very good at what they do, you can't solely depend on them for long-term success. It's a natural tendency that automatically generated content just doesn't look like quality pages with highly informative, up-to-date content, but it's my personal observation.

Most run-of-the-mill, ads-on-topfold Adsense sites lack substantial sections and deeper structures to be interesting enough to make visitors think they should come back to check them out more often. While generating as many pages as possible is crucial to get them indexed and thereby build substantial presence in search results, these types of pages should only complement principal content that reflects what your site stands for and the selling point it serves to maximize its overall value. There used to be a question that goes, "Is building Adsense sites a business?" My answer is: Adsense is secondary.

Of course, like you I do want Adsense to be my primary source of income. The secret is in emphasizing content and value, not Adsense ads. You may have felt resigned to say, "Does that mean more work?" Not really. Here's another secret inspired by a quote from Albert Einstein: You can't solve your Adsense income challenge at the same level of thinking.

Truth is: I have build a good number of Adsense sites, but my main Internet Marketing site which I treat as my core business earns more than some of them despite my intention not to make it Adsense-focused, all the more so when it has absolutely nothing to do with high-paying keywords and the tremendous amount of time that goes into keyword research...which leads to the next secret: create a site with a subject or niche you know you can continually express and expand on instead of getting stuck with a 'lucrative' keyword you may run out of ideas on in the long term.

This is as good as saying Adsense is not just a keyword value game; it is still the classic "How do I get and retain traffic" game, and traffic is not some scoreline, but real people with genuine interest.

eHow.com is an incredible example. It's a free site that shows people how to do a lot of different things. The best way to explain the site is just for you to go have a quick look now. They have hundreds, possibly thousands of pages of content on all sorts of subjects and the way they get traffic to their site is through the search engines.

Every page on the site has an Adsense box on it and that's how it makes money. They also have a Alexa traffic ranking of around 2000 which is great.

Of course, it doesn't make sense to write or purchase that much content by yourself. eHow.com succeeds in getting its visitors involved in content contribution. There's also a wikiHow to get contributors involved in constant update of a common topic or article.

For a start, here are suggestions on the type of sections you can integrate into a site:

1) Lead capture page with freebies or incentives.

2) Article directory.

3) A 'Contact Us' page.

4) An 'About Us' page.

5) Forum: The challenge lies in the time and effort needed to build up momentum to encourage forum participants to write in.

6) An archive section of some kind, for selected articles for example.

7) Blog/podcast pages.

8) Reciprocal link directory.

9) Sitemap.

It doesn't take much to think of these standard sections. Even a products section makes your site look good besides providing another source of income, and then you replicate these sections site after site, niche after niche.

4th secret: Only sites with a general theme can afford to be massive-looking. Examples: Entrepreneur.com and Dogomania.com. Then you break the theme down into specifics like gathering them under an umbrella: dog training, dog hygiene, dog naming, dog psychology, doggy habits etc. Accurate targeting of Adsense ads depends on specific subjects as reflected on page. One thing to note is it is better that specific sections are inter-linked in some ways. If you run a site on everything about cancer, because "colon cancer" and "breast cancer" are not intrinsically related, visitors interested in one section may not want to take a first glance at another.

5th secret about content: write from a 'consumer' perspective instead of the 'opportunist' or "how to make money" perspective. What is it your visitors are looking to buy? Ads normally target and appeal directly to consumers. It's pointless to put up content about how to make money with car accessories when there are hardly ads on "how to make money". Stick to introducing car accessories and let the ads do the selling. If an accessory or equipment catch visitors' attention and they click on the ads, you got Adsense dollars.

That's about all the ideas I have at this moment. You should be confident now and maybe have some more new ideas I haven't thought of. For sure, Adsense is a major income source you should seriously explore and make it big if you haven't done so. This is one of those money machines that will make you money-on-demand pretty much for the life of Google.

Be aware of who you are talking to. During a verbal interaction, regardless of whether it's over the phone, a meeting, a group discussion, in a party, or just plain talk, 4 predominant types of people emerge in the way they speak to you...

1) The close-minded: You will find it very tough to engage with this kind of people. It's either they don't like the topic, they don't like you or the occasion is not right. Once you realize you are talking to a wall, DISENGAGE.

2) The open-minded: You should look for these people. Communication on the same wavelength is all you and the other person need to create a natural common space.

3) The empty-minded: You don't know whether they are telling the truth or play-acting. These people speak as if they know when in fact they are just bullsh*tting. We call them 'gurus'.

4) The chameleon: Whoa, these folks are dangerous "yes" men. They agree with everything and anything as long as it's to their advantage, not because they want to go along with you. They take sides frequently.

Be aware...very aware.

1. Quite often, the entrepreneur has no idea how to market/sell the product without offending anyone. Even though they may be a great inventor, importer, writer, etc., they don't know how to create a benefit-oriented sales message because they are not in touch with their customers.

2. They grossly overestimate the demand and importance of their product in the marketplace. Many people think they have a winner, something everyone in the world needs. Generally, products appealing to everyone appeal to no one.

3. The biggest problem is the product is not positioned or even suited to the Internet or to online marketing. It may sell very successfully in specialty retail stores, or via direct-mail, however, the online market place isn't interested enough to actually pull out their money and purchase. Or worse, the marketplace is used to doing business a different way and can't see themselves ever buying "X" on the Internet. Examples: cars, jewelry, boats, health products etc. However, we believe this point is constantly becoming more of an exception as more people go online shopping, but only you can know the type of customer demographics you have in your hands now, and whether your site is playing an active role in selling and delivering your products via dropship.

Here the classic verse that has been around since it was uttered by some well-known guru applies: "Pick your market before you pick your product. Then, you can be sure you are selecting a customer group you want to do business with, one with money, and passions you can appeal to or problems you can solve."

Affiliate Marketing, Advertising, Promotions and Sales should never be Over-Complicated. When you are just starting out with an eBiz, eStore or eCommerce Site, I feel that it is highly important to Choose the most Simple and Complete Legitimate Affiliate Programs that are available on the Internet. It should be in a market that you are Truly Interested in and you must also have Total Faith in the Product(s) you are going to market. If you simply choose a program because it pays a high commission, but you are uncomfortable with the quality or marketing approach of the owner's product or service, it will greatly affect the Success Level that you can achieve.

Whether you are building an Online "Brand" for your existing brick-and-mortar business, or starting a completely new ebiz as an Affiliate Marketer who sells "other people's products"... There is a psychology of marketing and advertising to Internet Customers. No... you do not need to take courses and psychoanalyze your potential customers in an intensive and detailed manner... you simply need to keep a few facts in mind, so your promotions will get better results.

For the purpose of this discussion, the primary elements for consideration are really not that much different than brick-and-mortar business, but it is the Perception of a potential Internet customer is slightly skewed and many Web surfers are "On the Defensive", even before they ever see your product offer. Since Spam and Scams get a Huge amount of attention, most Online customers need to develop Trust of your "Brand". And brand can be your eBiz name, logo, motto, etc... or your Real name. A potential customer should be able to Search Google, Stumble across your Brand, see your name on many other sites or Social Networks, and Never find anything that would cause them to doubt your Honesty in eCommerce.

This same element should follow as they Search to see if your Product is legitimate or a Scam... because that is exactly what they will do... they will read your sales-letter, advertisement or offer and they will immediately Search Google, Yahoo, Bing, Ask and other SE's to find "dirt" connected with your product. They will literally search things like "is Pastor Charlie a Scam", which would be researching part of my Brand... or they will search "is {any specific product} a Scam". But when you are forewarned with the knowledge that most people are basically more skeptical of internet businesses, mostly due to the way Spammers, Scammers and Identity Thieves get a great deal more media coverage than Honest and Legitimate eBiz, you can take a few steps that will reassure your potential customer that they can trust you.

• Don't wait for the questions to be asked, answer them ahead of time.

• Use Question and Answer sites and Scam Forums to educate people as to the veracity of your eBiz.

• There are many of these type of sites you can use to get your Brand and product some positive influence. eHow, Yahoo Answers, etc...

• My personal favorite is to write a few Blog posts ahead of time with Titles like "Is Project Green Biz a Scam"?... or whatever product I am going to promote in my newest campaigns.

• Use Social Networks and Bookmarking to ensure there is positive content concerning your Brand or Product.

Blogs can be extremely effective tools to dispel the Doubts and Fears of your potential customers. Keep in mind that you must build Trust with people before they will ever Click on a "Buy Now" button. An example of the Skepticism related to Internet Marketers is when people ask me what I do for a living. When I tell them that I am a Pastor who also earns extra money on the internet, I can immediately see the wheels turning in their imagination. Some people will even tell me outright, that they think most eBiz are Scams. This does not bother me because I am very careful about the products I promote and I know that my primary Job as an Affiliate Marketer is to Help People. Affiliate's help people find the information, products and services that improve their quality of life. We should always be Proud that we can actually "make a difference" in peoples' everyday lives, when we lead them to the answers they are Seeking or products they Need. When you learn How to use your Blog to address the Needs and Desires of the Online population, you can truly help a vast number of people in locations all over the globe.

The humble Web Log, most often referred to as a Blog, has come under a great deal of scrutiny over the past few years. When using a Blog for Affiliate and Internet Marketing, it is suggested that each marketer research the new legislative requirements for Blog marketing. But that is a subject to itself. This article is intended to educate marketers as to the psychological implications of Content, Links and Images (or video) when using Blogs as a marketing tool.

Originally designed to be an Online Journal that could be shared with other internet users, the Web Log soon morphed into a Powerful and Persuasive Tool for Advertising and Sales. For a number of years now it has arguably been one of the first really effective free advertising methods discovered by marketers. Especially when used in conjunction with Social Networking and Social Media. Blog marketing picked up where Forum marketing left off and offers Web marketers and advertisers with a variety of Techniques and Methods for convincing people to Buy Products. Many experienced and insightful Bloggers make a six figure income simply posting Reviews of software and digital products or services that are available Online. This can be an inspiration for those of us who desire to earn money with our Affiliate Blog posts. However, if you want to get the most mileage out of the Content you place on your Blog, it is also crucial to understand the capacity for Cognition, for the average Internet user. Because Capturing and Maintaining the Interest of your reader is paramount when Affiliate Blogging.

A great deal of research has been conducted on the benefits and dangers of casual Internet usage. But the impetus for my article today comes from a simple clinical study concerning how the human brain processes text that is read on the computer by the average person. The results of this study were published on "Wired magazine" on May 24th 2010 by Nicholas Carr and is Titled: 'The Web Shatters Focus, Rewires Brains'. As I only wish to address the use of Affiliate Blogging... or the use of a Blog for Free Advertising which could result in the sale of a product, I will leave it to you to read the entire text of the article noted above. This information is also vital for those who use Article Marketing for leads and traffic.

Since I tend to be a "long-winded" writer, the main points of the article that caught my immediate attention are the facts that most people have a higher retention level for plain text, as compared to text that is peppered with hyper-links that are embedded into the text of an article or Blog post. Text with Links tend to break the concentration of the reader because they require a decision to be made as to whether one should click on the Link and read some other related information, or continue reading the text that is already presented. Furthermore, text with Links and Images (banners, video, etc...) tended to confuse the reader even more, so that many readers were not able to fully comprehend the subject matter they had just read. Some participants could not even remember what the subject of the text was, even though it had been a very short time since they had read it.

This brings me to my main point. It is my experience that many of the Affiliate Sales I make on the  Internet are the result of someone reading one of my Blog posts. In light of the research conclusions made by this small study, if we are to use a Blog for Affiliate Marketing, we should write text in short, easy to remember blocks of content. We should also keep our use of embedded links to an absolute minimum and preferably at the end of a particular Blog post. It is common practice to Use linked images and banners on our Blogs as an advertising method. Although the use of images can seem to make your posts more beautiful and notable... it would seem that the over-use of images and banners simply confuse a reader and can make it less likely for your posts to be comprehended and remembered by your readers.

In order to make Online Sales as an Affiliate Blogger, it is essential that our readers Click on the links that lead them to our product offers. However, in our zeal to make money with Affiliate Blogging, we can often sabotage our own marketing and advertising efforts by adding too many Links, too much Information and too many images and banners. So here are my suggestions:

• Write Short Blog posts with Easy to Remember, and Informative Content.
• Write Unique and memorable Text in the body of your posts.
• Write short paragraphs, or blocks of text, that are Easy to Understand and Remember.
• Treat each post as an Extension of the Niche Content and Products you offer.
• Keep use of embedded Links to an absolute minimum needed (When people Comprehend the info they have read they will be more likely to click on a Single Link. Multiple Links will only Confuse your reader).
• Do Not embed Links into the text of your Posts.
• Use a Subtle "call to action" with your Links (example: "Click Here for more Information")
• A picture may be worth a thousand words... but images and banners can also Back-Fire, causing your reader confusion, and Losing you the Sale.
• Keep Images and Banners to a Minimum (it's better to use a single image or banner with the Content of a single Post, instead of Littering your Blog Profile with several of them).
• "All roads leads to Rome": If you are Building your Email or Social Marketing Lists... Your Blog posts will be more effective as a Marketing Tool, when each Link leads readers to your Central Capture (or Squeeze) page for that particular Niche Market.
• Use subtle Links with lot's of Respect for your readers... when you link people directly to a product, you are bound to make a few sales... But when you link them to An Experience, you will make Even More Sales.

In summary: It's easy to cause your readers to experience Cognitive Over-load by Providing them with too many Options. Too many Links, Images, Banners and Too Much Information than can be digested in a single post.

Keeping your Blog profile and Blog posts Simple, Clean and On-Topic will lead to More Sales and Less Confusion. Keep it Simple. Keep it Short. Make it Memorable. Don't get over-anxious about making Affiliate Sales (making money). Keep your Focus on the Needs and Desires of your readers, Not your Need to Make Sales... they are the Source of your New Customers and Referrals... Treat them with Respect, Honesty and Dignity and they will return your kindness and respect with More Sales.

Working at Home, in shorts and a tank top, Every single time I get a “Notification of Payment” email from Paypal, I do a little dance…

One of the greatest Blessings I get is using and sharing Simple Affiliate Programs and Products that Pay Directly to my Paypal account. Learning Affiliate Marketing takes a little time… and it’s certainly Not a Lazy person’s Job! It’s Still Work, and it didn’t happen over-night. This keeps me Inspired and let’s me know Quickly when I have Targeted the right market.

and it's just as good as an Opt-In List (often better)

The Future of List-Building... Social Media and Social Networking is the "New Way" to Build Your Marketing List!

Did you know that every time you make a Friend on Affiliate-Bivocation, Facebook, Linked-in, etc.., or gain a Follower on Twitter, that you are actually Building Your Marketing List?

The whole idea behind Building an Email Marketing List is that people give you permission to send them Email Messages and once you build a List you can send useful information and periodic sales offers to Your List.

Building an Email Marketing List is one of the Most Important things you can do as an Internet Business-person! And Social Media is one of the Most Over-Looked Marketing Lists on the Internet. So many Affiliate Marketers concentrate all their efforts on Getting Traffic to their Squeeze Page so that people will Opt into their List. But they are often overlooking the Huge List that Already Exists on Social Networks.

However, Building a Social Media Marketing List is not Automated, which may be why so many marketers Neglect it. Most people would Rather try to build a list with a Squeeze page or Blog, but if you can't get Traffic to the page where your Autoresponder Form is... You'll Never Start Building your List. When you are beginning an Online business, you may be Tempted to spend money to Advertise your Squeeze page, but these days, you will most likely end up wasting a bunch of money on advertising, with very little results to show for it. For every 1,000 people your Ads may reach, you may get 1 person to subscribe to your Autoresponder. That's a Huge waste of Time and Money, if you ask me.

Just as you would with an Autoresponder List, and it only requires a little more effort. It is a hands-on approach that is definitely worth a little extra time and effort to get "more responsive" Leads, and Make More Sales. Automated approaches for list building are becoming less effective... It's time to get More Social and More Involved with your Online Biz.

People are Extremely Careful about sharing their name and email address with Affiliate Marketers, which is why most of you are having so much difficulty in List Building and need to contact thousands of people to get a few measly subscribers. However, these same people are very Eager to become Friends with you on Social Networks and the conversion ratio is better than 50%. Most people will eagerly become your Friend on Social Networks when you send them an Invitation. This means that you can Build a Huge List of Social Contacts that have given you Permission to Directly Send Emails them in a few weeks by Simply Asking them to be your Friend. You can most often use the basic friend "Invite" function, or you can write a compelling "Custom" invitation using the same function. If you have a Free Report, Ebook or Free Software to give away, make certain that you have placed a Link to your "Landing Page" in a few different spots or in the footer of your pages.

Don't over-think this method. You don't need to come up with a stunning headline, or a special invitation format... just use the basic Invite function that exists on All Social Networks. Just make certain that you have some Interesting Information and a Link to your Autoresponder on your Social Profile and people will subscribe to it. And even if they don't subscribe to your Opt-in List, remember that you already have their permission to send them emails because they are your Friends on Social Media. The "Friends" you make on Social Networks are usually "More Responsive" to the Offers you Promote on your Social Profile, Blog or Squeeze Page... this often translates into more Sales.

Start taking advantage of the Huge Social Media List that already exists on the internet. All you need to do to Tap Into this List is to be Friendly and Social. Send out basic Invites to people who have similar interests and problems that you can provide solutions for, and you'll be pleasantly surprised at Just How Fast you can Build your List. Today I sent about twenty Invitations through the Affiliate-Bivocation "Add Friends" Function... and by tomorrow, I should have at least 3 to 5 New Friends (maybe more), Social Media is an Easy way to Build a List that is Responsive and profitable. Just make certain that you Never Abuse your Social List... be honest and sincere in your efforts to improve the lives of the people on Your List by providing them with Info and Products that Solve Problems, or Fulfill the Dreams of your Social Media Friends. Put their interests first... and you will be rewarded with Affiliate Sales.

Tip: You can use the search function on Facebook, Twitter, etc.. to find people who have similar interests as you do, and simply send each person a Friend Invitation. Don't "Push" your Offers at your New Friends, Let them find the Offers and Links that you have "Strategically" placed on your "Landing Page" (a Landing Page is the the web page or blog post you would like them to visit). You should also try to ensure that all of your web pages, blog posts and reports have a Link to your capture form. It makes life easier when you can get people to Opt-Into your Email Marketing Campaign.
